Look, hot plastic action! The video has a demo of the time it takes to get it heated up and able to spit out PLA (around 30 seconds).

I'm holding the functional hot end in my fingers for this first bit. This shows off the general direction and how using a much smaller nozzle with a much lower thermal mass can be lightweight and very responsive.

what resolution are you going to print in?

Jonathan Buford responded:

The output is likely 0.5-0.3mm, but will test smaller to see if there is any significant improvement. The resolution of the printer is on par with the Makerbot or RepRap.

cool, so if I fund the project right now, how long before it arrives?

Jonathan Buford responded:

Shipping around end of March if everything goes smoothly.

will the hot end be remote driven like the Bowden Extruder, or are you going to have it direct drive, or will you leave it optional? personaly I prefer the Bowden type extruders because there are already multi-filament drives being constructed meaning you can do dual filament prints with a much smaller actual print head.
