MakiBox A6 - Print Output and Upcoming

Here is a glimpse of the print output we are getting now.

Pretty satisfied, this is in ABS, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.3mm layer height. Total height of 85mm and around 60mm wide.

We are working on getting the first beta units together this coming week, so it will be cool to see what the difference is with the more rigid frame and other improvements of the updated design.

The output is looking so much better now, its incredible the progress you've been making.

The motors sounded different from all previous videos though, is that because of the faster speed?

can you say how much material you use for this Vase or what does is weight

so that we can get a feeling how much we can print with 1kg roll

Arno,

Injection grade ABS density is about 1.04g/cc.

1kg would make a solid 31cc block. Or about a 12.2" cube.

But nothing printed would be that solid. A kilo should print quite a bit.

Russ; there's something wrong with your math. 1.04g/cc is roughly the density of water (1g/cc); so you'd end up with a volume slightly smaller than 1 liter for 1 kg of solid ABS.

Huray looks awesome! You said you're getting the beta units together, does that mean if everything goes to plan you'll start shipping the units soon? (soon as in a month)

Dan, yes very bad math. Missed a dimension--cube root not square root.

You are correct. Solid ABS block would be just shy of a liter (.961). Making it about almost a 4" cube.

Awesome. One question: Are the stainless makiboxes going to be stiffer than the acrylic ones? That would be the main reason for me to upgrade, but if it doesn't matter, I'd just as soon save the $50.
