Anyone else seen this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwsOy3SP8ek#t=35

Typical promo video, pushing a 3D 'printer'. Yet I didn't see one mechanical part movement and I bet those parts are printed on a much more advanced system . . Zzz

Yeah I saw that on their website about a week ago. Leaves me (and I'm sure anyone else remotely familiar with 3D printing) skeptical of how exactly they turn a bottle into 3D printing material to be used since they didn't show that process at all, and as you said, the printer didn't move an inch the whole video, so it could be made out of really nicely painted cardboard for all we know. Also agree those prints look a little too nice to have been made with recycled material

All it is is a Coke branded Cubify Cube 3 $999 - http://www.3dsystems.com/3d-printers/personal/cube-3

According to this story preorder of the Ekocycle bumps the price to $1199
http://www.technobuffalo.com/2014/06/21/will-i-am-and-coca-cola-collaborate-on-ekocycle-cube-3d-printer/

So for an additional $200 you can feel good that a part of the printer is made from recycled materials and 25% of the filament is also recycled material....

and Will. I. Am. says its cool... and part red.

p.s. here is a link to how they make rPET (recycled bottles)

Actually, I think Makerbot also test-demo printing PET material with the Replicator(not sure which model) earlier.

You're still locked into a proprietary system with it's wonderfully overprices chipped cartridge system. :/

Yeah that's the one downside with the printer, there are ways to get around it though.

I think that thing is complete marketing BS typical of apple. The only thing recycling is that plastic filament is made with a small % of recycled plastic.
You can just as easily be enviromental/recycle just selling the filament. And unless you already recycle your coke bottles it will do nothing in terms of recycling for you.
